Evening
A note from the Chair
For one hundred and twenty-two years, the Society has done one quiet, durable thing — gathered the people who carry its work forward into a single room, once a year, and given them the long evening of attention they have earned. Tonight we honor four colleagues whose contributions span our four standing programs — the Library, the Press, the Lecture Series, and the Endowed Studies. Read their citations. Tell them what their work has meant. Stay for the reception; the room is at its best after nine. We are grateful to our institutional partners, whose generosity makes this evening — and the year of work it celebrates — possible. And we are grateful to all of you, who chose to be here. Welcome back.
One evening. 6 speakers. 2 headliners.
